This has happened to us so many times that when we try to connect a new Smartphone, Tablet or Laptop to our wireless network (WiFi), we realize that we do not remember the password anymore. In that situation, we usually reset our Wireless Router and set a new password which is quite a long process. Also we have to enter this new password in all the devices already connected to that Wireless Network. We can avoid resetting the Wireless Router. This article would show how to recover WiFi password in Windows 8.
Here are a few simple steps we need to follow to view the Wireless Network (WiFi) Password from a machine that is already connected to same network. Yes, you must have a machine already connected to the network you are trying to retrieve password for.
On your Windows 8 Desktop Screen, press ‘Windows’ and ‘R’ keys together and this brings up the Run Command Window at the bottom left of your screen. Type in ncpa.cpl there and hit ‘OK’.
Network Connections window would open up. Right Click on Wireless Connection and click on ‘Status’.
In the Wi-Fi Status Window, click on ‘Wireless Properties’.
In the next window which is Wireless Network Properties window, select the ‘Security’ tab and click on the check box ‘Show Characters’. You would be able to see the ‘Network security key’ i.e. the Wi-Fi Password.
That is all you need to recover your password.
